Yasmine Lahjij (b. 1986) is a French-Moroccan artist and researcher, working across various locations in the Mediterranean. The artist holds a BFA and MFA from Pantheon-Sorbonne University, Paris, and a Master in Arts & Languages from EHESS, Paris, where she was awarded a PhD fellowship in 2019.
In 2025, the transdisciplinary organisation Terzo Paesaggio (Milan) invited the artist to participate in a residency in the Tammaro valley. The collective research aimed to explore practices of care, observation, and listening, marking the beginning of the foundational journey for the project "La communità del grano."
She is the co-creator of Halloumi Connection, an international collective exploring artists, genres and scenes through audio mixing and broadcasting on THF Radio, Berlin.
In 2024, she led a series of public workshops at the American Legation Museum in Tangier, with the kind support of the American Language Center. In 2023, she was the recipient of the Culture Moves Europe travel grant for a residency in Lisbon, with the support of the Goethe-Institut and the European Union. She was also chosen to participate in the mentorship programme of the platform ‘Room to Bloom’ in Palermo, Italy, developed jointly by Alternatives Européennes, Studio Rizoma, AthenSyn, and SMVK (2022/2023).
The artist has been selected for the Pierre David-Weill Prize and exhibited at the Palais de l’Institut de France in Paris (2022). She was nominated for the Vittorio Viviani Prize, Nova Milanese, Italy (2022) and participated in the seventh edition of the Youmein Festival in Tangier (2022) .
